Virginia State Safety Inspection
The safety of your vehicle will always be our top priority. We take great care in thoroughly inspecting your vehicle in accordance with state law. When you come to DOC Auto for your vehicle inspection we will take all of the following steps to ensure that your vehicle is safe for the road.
It is no secret that your brakes are one of the most important components in terms of vehicle safety of your vehicle. Our technicians will inspect your braking system and check for excessive wear, missing or damaged parts, and proper brake fluid level. We will take a look at your parking brake and check for broken parts and proper adjustment.
Interior and Exterior Lights
When your lights aren’t functioning properly it affects your ability to see and be seen on the road. DOC Auto will check your lights for proper wiring and illumination. Your high beam indicator will also be inspected to make sure that you are not unknowingly blinding other drivers on the road. Along with your other lights we will also inspect your turn signal lights and switch.
Steering and Suspension
Your steering and suspension systems are what put you in control when you are behind the wheel. During your Virginia Safety Inspection your suspension and steering system will be thoroughly inspected including your bushings, kingpins, wheel bearings, and power steering fluid level. We will also check your wheels and axles for proper alignment.
Tires, Wheels, and Rims
When your tires or wheels are in poor condition it puts the safety of your vehicle at risk. Our team will check for damage and excessive wear to make sure they are road-worthy.
Mirrors and Horn
You may not think about your mirrors and horn when you consider the safety of your vehicle, but they are important parts of your vehicle. We will inspect your mirrors for proper road visibility and your car horn to ensure it is working properly when you need to alert another driver of your presence.
If you can’t properly see through your windshield or mirrors how will you keep yourself safe on the road? Your glass will be inspected for anything that could obstruct your vision including cracks, unauthorized stickers, and inappropriate tint levels.
Your exhaust system is inspected during emissions testing, but it is also included in your safety inspection. Leaks in your exhaust system could put your health and risk and should be inspected. We will also check your air pollution control system including your catalytic converter.
Driver’s Seat, Seatbelts, and Airbags
Your driver’s seat needs to be inspected for condition, position, and proper anchoring. As for your seat belts, according to state law, they need to be the proper type for your vehicle, properly installed, and in good working condition. Airbags need to be working if you find yourself in a potentially dangerous situation and they need to be working properly to avoid a dangerous situation.
Your vehicle’s fuel system will be inspected for potential leakage and to make sure that everything is properly fastened in place. As small a part as it is, your fuel tank filler cap also needs to be inspected.
